instructions for the diff set up tool looks and sounds great for adjusting the thrust washer tension. My question is that you are suppose to run a tank of gas and then recheck the thrust washer setting. Does this mean that I would have to disassemble my diff to do the set up again. Is there a way to break-in the diff without actually doing the complete assembly and installing in gas truck? I also have read about using very, very fine sandpaper to give a fine texture and remove any high spots to the diff drive rings. any comments would be appreciated

the sanding of the diff rings with a fine emery cloth on a flat piece of counter top, glass, desktop, should work fine. The tool is mostly when the diff is out of the transmission. You want to use it after you break in you diff. you do this by chucking it in a cordless drill at slow speed. run the diff in both direction for 10 minutes. We do recommend using our own racing grease because it has Teflon impregnated which fuses in the plastic diff gear. It is also better quality than the OEM grease that comes in you kit. Once you break in the diff you want to check it with the tool and set the tension on the diff spring. Once that is set you should never have to remove the diff to reset tension.
